Predesign & Planning

The Predesign & Planning consisted of preparation of a flight plan and layout of ground control points. As we place Ground Control Points (GCPs) in areas with the lowest obstruction. It was also necessary to be conscious of the elevation changes and be prepared for it.  Moreover, we had take into consideration of all flight restrictions.

Modelling

The modeling of the building located at 4150 Concours St Suite 100, Ontario, CA 91764. We were successfully able to digitally map the building in 3D with the use of as built Surveying and Modeling. 3D point Cloud and orthophoto of the project were created via a combination of photographs from varying angles and altitudes.

Visualization

Our visual was to show the benefits of integrating digital mapping technology and BIM for project implantation. Additionally to display the different layers of information to a digital map. Digital mapping will enhance collaboration within one another allowing access to the same data concurrently. Which will facilitate to test approaches and capture miscalculations earlier, which will result in greater predictability of the buildings and infrastructure.

Project Scope

Project Scope

Our objective for the following project will be to digitally map the building located at 4150 Concours St Suite 100, Ontario, CA 91764. The primary goal of the project is to create a 3D as-built model from LiDAR scans and photogrammetry from various platforms, including but not limited to Terrestrial (stationary) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry.

The CPP Civil Engineering students will digitally map the look and feel of the building through the following deliverables.

  • 3D as built Surveying and Modeling.

  • Field Survey and Site Investigation

  • Topographic and cross-section surveying and mapping along designated project sites in BIM format.

  • As-built visualization of WestLAND Group, Inc. to compare discrepancy.

Upon completion of the project our team will produce a Project Study Report (PSR) that summarizes the benefit of integrating digital mapping technology and BIM for project implementation. Also, to conclude a formal presentation and a project poster will be given to accompany the project, enlightening and informing more about the product and the services we accomplished in detail.
