Surveying

The images shown are the original surveyed documents that were used to collect the field data for this project.  Our team was  limited to using previously recorded data which was collected using two methods of surveying.

The total station was used to perform  a closed traverse to survey  6 ground control points which were set up around the perimeter of the building. To begin any traverse, a known point must first be occupied. This means to set up and level the transit or theodolite, directly over a monument on the ground representing that point.)

The GPS or global positioning system method, also used the same 6 ground control points as the traverse. The equipment used for this method was a base station and a rover which received signals from satellites to pinpoint a precise location on the Earth’s surface.
